After 32 years of teaching my interests moved to architecture, especially historic and period buildings. This kept me busy for 12 more years after which I acquired an interest in sculpture.
I've always had a love for materials. Their textures, contrasts, and unique challenges are endless, and perfect for 3D expression. In addition, sculpture has given me an opportunity to combine many of the skills with wood, metal, clay, and finishes that I've acquired over the years.
Recent exhibits have included Art Loft 100, two juried entries in the Minnesota State Fair, a two month show as featured sculptor at Opening Night Gallery in Minneapolis, a two month show at Zeller Gallery, Hopkins, MN, Vanessa Lacy Gallery, Kansas City, and Hopkins Center for the Arts where I received an Award of Merit for "Oregon". In May and June of 2023 I was pleased to have been invited for a two month exhibit at the Artistry Gallery - Bloomington Center for the Arts. In addition, the University of Minnesota, Larson Gallery, and Inver Hills Community College Gallery have both been welcome academic venues for my work.
In 2022 I was pleased to recieve a major commission from Four Seasons Hotels for their new location in Minneapolis. "Ancient Voices" has since been installed on their rooftop restaurant terrace. Delta Airlines has also acquired three pieces for their new Sky Miles Lounge at the MSP airport.
Sculpture has kept me pleasantly busy and with it I would hope to continue exploring new paths and adjusting to the surprises they bring.
