I am a freelance artist and autodidactic sculptor currently working from my rural home studio in Minnesota. My media usage has ranged from inks, pastels, oils, watercolors, airbrush and sculpture in clay, wax, epoxy and polymers.
My appreciation for classical sculpture can be found throughout my work with contemporary elements of originality. I have extensively studied the figures of both human and animal anatomy and their form. Expressive posture should be natural and depict the specific details of movement and features original to each species or person. My perspective on any work of art is that it should showcase quality and fine workmanship first and foremost through identifiable means. Abstraction is fine, but so long as it is a conplementary feature, secondary to skill.
My vision for a commissioned piece comes by discussing with each buyer certain moods or emotions that should be generated in its exhibit. Conveying a mood is an essential component that blends into the individual's choices giving the characteristics to make it unique and personal. My own work can come from most anywhere and it is often the subtlest things that are influential in becoming the foundation for a sculpture.
My goal is to create permanent forms of three-dimensional art that add enrichement, inspiration and value to the surroundings.
My direction focuses primarily on cultural art, wildlife, domestic animals and humans in a creative study of their natural form.
